Sorry about the lack of words on the blog this week. I hit a writing wall and it didn’t help that less than nothing newsworthy has happened this week. I promise to scrape myself of said wall and will return tomorrow with a Charlotte Preview and a few thoughts. In the meantime Id like to hear your thoughts on the influx of open wheel drivers. Is it good for the sport? Who of the new open-wheelers has the best chance to succeed? Do you care about a driver’s background?
By the way, did you know that Leffler is 5′3″?

Generally speaking the open wheelers are good for the sport–bringing in more competition. There is no reason to fear that they will take over the sport, because the short track drivers will always outnumber the road course drivers. AJ Almendinger, given the chance and the equipment, has the best potential of the current influx, because he is still young and adaptable, and no one can say he doesn’t have the talent. I think Dario Franchitti should do well, also. I have no reason to think that way, just a gut feeling.
