50 Years of the Great American Race DVD and Contest
A&E Home Video, the company that brought you the NASCAR Driven to Win DVD’s, is now releasing a two-disc set on the 50th anniversary of the Daytona 500. See below for the press release or check out the website. All I know is that it is 288 minutes of Daytona. That’s almost as long as a race at Pocono!
Even better, they have provided me with a copy to give away. I have an idea for a contest, but I wanted some feedback first. If you have a fun idea for a contest, let me know in the comments.

“Daytona 500 Stats and Trivia Hunt”
You come up with a certain number of stats, trivia notes, etc. from the different Daytona 500 races (could also include qualifying). Set a deadline for submitting answers. The member to e-mail you before the deadline with the most correct answers wins.
IE. Question #19. “I started from the pole in a Wood Brothers owned car and went on to win the Daytona 500 after leading 76 laps. Who am I?”
Doesn’t have to be just Daytona 500 related, but considering the prize and trying to keep it easy enough to figure out, limiting it to only actual Daytona 500 races would help.

Hey Mike,
Based on my past experiences with contests, follow the KISS method (Keep It Simple Stupid) otherwise people won’t respond. We, as a race, are lazy by nature and it shows when you have the most awesome contest on the face of the earth and it only requires a small bit of work on the contestants part (like googling a drivers name and looking at 2 or 3 sites), but they won’t do it because they have ‘to work for it’.
Have fun with the contest!

I think you’re right Bob. As much fun as it would be to present a gauntlet of trivia, that would mean work on my part and the reader’s. If only there were a way to play a game of 500 and throw it up for grabs.

Make it something random like pick a number, predict the pole sitter and winner for a certain race? I don’t know just give us a chance to win your copy. Winning is always more fun than just buying something:)

Well, I’m still waiting on the DVD’s to arrive. It would be a pretty lame giveaway without something to…give away. I do have an idea for the contest, though.
