About
My name is Mike Maruska and I got seriously hooked on NASCAR in 2004. I was immediately submerged in learning as much about the sport as I could, watching races, reading books and viewing a lot of different content on the web. After a while I became frustrated with the lack of insightful, facts-based writing available online. There are a lot of excellent writers that cover NASCAR, but too often I would hear the same retread opinions from many of the not-so-excellent ones. As a way to release my frustrations as well as connect with other like-minded fans, I started this blog as a place to put down my ideas and opinions.
I hope to be as fair and objective as possible in my writing. I believe that ideas shouldn’t be accepted simply because “it’s always been that way”. Things change and nothing stays the same, especially in sports. A good opinion must be supported by facts and in the Google age you should be able to find your facts in minutes. If that opinion is a different angle than the majority then that’s even better. In addition to strong opinions based on facts and statistics, I hope it’s an entertaining and fun place to come and read. Because if you can’t laugh at things, especially sports, then what’s the point?
